OPEN Online Courses and Platforms

OPEN Online Courses and Platforms

OF EDUCATIONAL AND CULTURAL AFFAIRS.

It is a great pleasure for me to announce to you that I have recently graduated as "outstanding" (only 9 other participants in the region (19 countries) were awarded such distinction) from the professional training program  OPEN Program Spring 2021 - Using Educational Technology (I attached the certificate for, as I have seen, it is fashionable). This was an exclusively asynchronous online course for which congratulations are due to the  BUREAU OF EDUCATIONAL AND CULTURAL AFFAIRS.

In cursul acestui curs, am aflat de urmatoarele platforme online care v-ar putea fi de folos:

During this course, I learned about several online platforms that you may find useful:

The U.S. Department of State American English website: https://americanenglish.state.gov/ (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.

·       American English Facebook Page1https://www.facebook.com/AmericanEnglishatState/ (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.

·       American English YouTube channel1https://www.youtube.com/user/StateAmericanEnglish

Voice of America (VOA)

Lingro.com - you can feed electronic text or its link in this platform and all the words of the text will be hyperlinked, each hyperlink leading to explanations for each word.

Corpus of Contemporary American English (COCA) - this is a very complex and systematic concordancer that gives you info on the contexts in which a word is used offering you thousands of examples, statistics etc.; you need to log in.

(I found these two tools useful in selecting texts for evaluation exercises, designing grammar activities)

American Teens Talk:
This collection of interviews with American high school students is available in written format and in audio format. Read 3-5 of the interviews and listen to the audio. Think about how you might be able to pick out a few aspects the students discuss to use as starting point for a reading/speaking lesson. https://americanenglish.state.gov/resources/american-teens-talk
